December 2004:
I went to
music school on West 13th Street between
5th and 6th Avenues in New York City's Downtown
Manhattan, right near all the important
Greenwich Village jazz clubs. The Blue Note, on 3rd street between
MacDougal Street and 6th Avenue is a perfect place to start
your jazz filled evening. From there, go on and catch the second set at
the historic Village Vanguard on 7th Avenue and 11th
Street. After the band packs up, you can catch the midnight show at
Sweet Rhythm near Bleecker Street. Late night music can also be heard from
the Fat Cat and Bar 55 on Christopher Street in the West Village. No night is finished,
though, without a walk to the East Village to check out Charlie Parker’s
home on Avenue B between 9th and 10th Streets.
Have fun!
